CPD Hours: 2
The new Solicitors' Code of Conduct 2007 came into force on 1 July. It introduced a number of significant changes to the professional conduct regime for solicitors, including the creation of a set of core duties, such as integrity, independence and the best interest of clients, that underpin the rest of the Code; and key changes from the previous Guide to Professional Conduct in the areas of client relations, conflicts of interest, client confidentiality, supervision and the business management of solicitors' firms.
These changes will impact upon the responsibilities of every solicitor in England and Wales.
To help you prepare for this important event, the Law Society has specially developed an online training course designed to enable you to gain an understanding of the contents of the new Code and get up to speed on the impact of the changes. The course also allows you to earn two hours continuing professional development, all at a time and place most convenient to you!
Read an introduction to the course by Fiona Woolf, immediate past President of the Law Society
