Law Society challenges Government on defendants' costs

The Law Society has filed a Judicial Review application at the Royal Courts of Justice in an attempt to overturn new Government regulations which prevent successful defendants in criminal proceedings from recovering all their costs.  

The Society has also issued a practice note for solicitors working for successful criminal defendants in these circumstances, explaining how they can apply to the judge for summary assessment of costs.
