LMS Business Planning Toolkit (folder + e-updates - non-members)

The Law Management Section's Business Planning Toolkit is designed to help practitioners to understand how to draft and implement business plans, including plans for individuals, teams and the firm, and through all stages including securing buy-in and reviewing the plan following initial implementation. The toolkit is chapter-based, with updates issued periodically. Each chapter aims to provide an initial reference source – the toolkit is not intended to be a comprehensive overview of all business planning issues, but a place to start. The toolkit is written by consultant Nick Jarrett-Kerr with additional case studies by managing partners at three Section member firms.

This toolkit is aimed not only at partners and fee-earners, but also at IT staff, practice managers and anyone else who oversees the IT function in their firms. It includes information on the use and monitoring of email and the internet, management of websites and data, disaster recovery and business continuity, and management of laptop computers.

LMS Legal Aid Toolkit (folder + e-updates - non-members)

The Legal Aid Toolkit is chapter-based and deals with topics such as finance, management, strategy and growth, mergers and disposals, preferred supplier, fixed and graduated fees, criminal contracts and related timetables. It includes a number of checklists, a usual diagnostic tool and a specially designed benchmark calculator – which is available electronically via the Section’s website.
